With “Uncover”, Bjørn Fjæstad shows his bravery by taking on some of the greatest songs ever recorded. Although being true to the originals, his strong vocals and impeccable ability to interpret, he ends up making them “his own”, insisting on getting the listener to listen.
Bjørn Fjæstad (born 1964) is one of Denmark’s finest singers with an extraordinary present vocal, spanning from hoarse rock to melancholy interpretations. In 1994 he founded the Danish rock band Baal, whose debut album “Sensorama”, received no less than 6 nominations at the Danish Grammy Awards in 1996. Quite an achievement.
“Uncover is a handful of songs, which in sound and mood, reflects my youth. These 60’, 70’ and 80’ songs bring back feelings of both longing and powerlessness. Although I was too young with no life experience to really understand, my instinct told me that these songs were about me and the life that I had yet to live."
"As I now revisit these songs as a grown man who has lived life, for better and for worse, I fully understand the sorrows, the longings, and the fragile hopes, hidden in these lyrics."
"Being in my late 50’s, I’m finally ready to bring these songs home to me, by letting them stand as naked as possible, carefully led by an incredible band, capable of finding that very fine but crucial balance, that is needed when interpreting some of the greatest songs ever."
Uncover is released in cooperation with the Danish loudspeaker manufacturer DALI.
